Sumedha is a 6th year PhD candidate in Biological Sciences studying how Group B Streptococcus and Mycobacterium marinum cross the blood brain barrier to cause brain infections. She received her B.S. in microbiology from UC Berkeley and then worked as a research scientist at the University of Washington studying antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in cystic fibrosis patients. Sumedha loves baseball and playing with her corgi, Peach!
Liam morrill
Lab Manager
Liam has been the Lab Manager and Zebrafish Tech for the Madigan Lab since early 2023. He received his B.S. in Marine Biology and a B.A. in Studio Art from UC San Diego. He previously worked in early childhood marine conservation education before making the switch back into research and academia. His areas of interest are in scientific communication and outreach as well as animal behavior and husbandry. When he is not at the lab Liam enjoys painting and hanging out with his dog, Magic!
